I had wanted to try Pastaga since it was included in a list of restaurants that had great gluten-free dishes in the Montreal Gazette. Pastaga, like Toqué, was a fancier place I wanted to try and it lived up to my high expectations. About 3/4 of the mains on the menu were gluten-free without any adjustments and most of the dishes could be made without gluten.
We had smoked salmon and beet salad to start and bubbles because it was my birthday. Both dishes were great but the smoked salmon was one of the best dishes I had had in a while. I am biased as I am obsessed with salmon, herbs, mayo and potatoes. As a main I had scallops which were delicious. My date had pork with carrot pancakes, which were not gluten-free. For dessert we had mousse chocolat amer, brisures de tire éponge et foam caramel bits which was amazing and happily gluten-free. We had the wine pairing with are dishes which was great.
I would highly recommend Pastaga for a special gluten-free dinner. It has a nice ambience and they are knowledgeable about gluten-free . Reservations are highly recommended.
